Healthy Body, Healthy Skin

Getting regular exercise is a critical practice for staying strong, fit, and healthy; but did you know that it can also improve the health of your skin?  It can make your skin radiant, help with problem skin, reduce signs of aging, and even minimize the look of tired eyes.  Just one more reason to stick to your resolution to hit the gym more!

When we exercise, our heart rate rises, increasing blood circulation and delivering oxygen-rich blood filled with essential nutrients and vitamins to tired skin cells, leaving your skin vibrant and glowing.  Getting a workout on a regular basis improves your over all circulation which means that your skin is more frequently replenished with healthy blood.

While working up a sweat sounds like fun for some and torture for others, it is actually a great way to keep skin clear and free of impurities.  When we sweat, all of the yucky stuff that clogs our pores is flushed out of the skin; it is our skin’s way of naturally detoxing and clearing the skin and body of harmful toxins.  It is important to remember however, that a post work out cleanse is crucial if you don’t want all of the dirt that you just flushed out to settle back into your pores.

As we age, our bodies’ ability to produce collagen and elastin (the proteins that give skin its strength and elasticity and make it appear firmer, plumper, and more youthful) begins to decline which causes wrinkles and sagging skin.  On top of that, the stress hormone cortisol accelerates the aging process by breaking down any of these proteins that our bodies are still able to produce, rendering them useless.  Regular exercise reduces cortisol levels, increases collagen and elastin production, and also releases healing endorphins.  In other words, skin appears plump, firm, and younger looking.

Yet another thing that can make us older is dark, tired, puffy eyes; one cause of which is an accumulation of toxins in the sinuses as a result of a blocked lymphatic system.  However, the increased blood flow from your work out also increases lymph flow which allows your lymph system to effectively rid the body of toxins and waste, reducing the fluid retention that causes the appearance of tired eyes.

So what are some Eminence Organic Skincare products that you should add to your gym bag to enhance all of the wonderful benefits your skin will be receiving?  For a healthy glow that lasts after you leave the gym, we recommend the Lime Stimulating Masque (it’s like exercise for your skin on a cellular level!).  Post work out, cleanse with the Red Currant Exfoliating Cleanser to rid the skin of the dirt and junk that you just worked so hard to sweat out.  Use Citrus & Kale Potent C+E Serum or Rosehip Triple C+E Firming Oil for an added anti-aging boost.  And finally, the perfect eye treatment to soothe and smooth is the Hibiscus Ultra Lift Eye Cream.  So pack up your bag and go hit the gym!

Thank you for reading, good luck on your journey to a healthier self in 2018!
