The Importance of Exfoliating
Exfoliation is essential to having vibrant, radiant skin.
Exfoliating regularly is important for all skin types to remove build up from the skin’s surface, resulting in a clear, luminous complexion.
For younger individuals, it keeps skin smooth and clear by unclogging pores and for those with more mature skin, exfoliation revives a tired complexion by minimizing fine lines and removing dry flakes.
Eminence has an array of botanical exfoliants to smooth and refine any skin type with natural ingredients to gently polish your skin by removing dead and dehydrated skin cells to clear pores and recover the skin’s youthful radiance.
There are two types of exfoliants, physical exfoliants and chemical exfoliants.
Physical exfoliants manually slough off dead cells from the skin’s surface with tiny granules to reveal the new, healthy skin underneath. An example of a physical exfoliant would be the award-winning Stone Crop Oxygenating Fizzofoliant, which brightens and invigorates the complexion with a light fizzing action that gently removes impurities. This powder-to-foam exfoliant uses microgreens, stone crop and rice flower with adzuki powder to infuse the skin with a youthful glow. Shake a small amount of the powder onto wet hands and rub together to create a foam, or combine with your cleanser and massage into face to cleanse and exfoliate, leaving skin plump, polished, and refined.
A chemical exfoliant on the other hand, uses naturally occurring acids and enzymes to remove the dead skin cells at a much deeper level.
Chemical exfoliants include Eminence’s VitaSkin Exfoliating Peels which contain alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA’s) such as lactic acid, and beta-hydroxy acids (BHA’s) such as salicylic and citric acids. These naturally derived acids work by dissolving the “glue” that holds the dead skin cells together.
Eminence offers a VitaSkin Exfoliating Peel to target any skincare concern. The Bright Skin Licorice Root Exfoliating Peel treats the look of hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone, the Clear Skin Willow Bark Exfoliating Peel targets problem skin for oilier skin types, and the Firm Skin Acai Exfoliating Peel helps to firm and tighten aging skin.
Each VitaSkin Exfoliating Peel comes in a pump container and includes a package of dual-textured round cotton pads. To use, dispense one to two pumps of the solution onto your preferred side of the cotton round, then apply to the face and neck using circular motions and leave on two to three times per week. It is important to note that the naturally potent ingredients will make your skin more sensitive to the sun so it is a good idea to apply an SPF while using this product.
It is also possible for an exfoliant to be both physical and chemical, as is the case with the best-selling Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant from Eminence. Rice powder manually exfoliates the skin and absorbs oil while natural lactic and salicylic acids remove dead skin cells.
The Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant can be used either by mixing the product with water to form a paste or by mixing directly into your cleanser and applying to the face in circular motions. This dual action exfoliant is powerful enough to help you achieve the bright and radiant complexion that everyone yearns for, yet is gentle enough to be used every day.
